In a bid to woo Jayalalithaa's niece and nephew, the Tamil Nadu government has promised to compensate them for Veda Nilayam. Chief Minister Palanisamy intends to convert Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden residence into a memorial but Deepak and Deepa had raised objections to the same.

'The legal heir of Poes Garden former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's residence, will be paid compensation,' said Law Minister C V Shanmugam on Friday. His statements come after Deepa Jayakumar threatened to take legal action against the government if it proceeded with the plans of converting Veda Nilayam into a memorial without her and brother Deepak's consent.

The government has now come out and said that compensation will be paid to the duo in the case that they are the legal heirs. Meanwhile, the government is already in the process of converting Veda Nilayam into a memorial. Heavy police deployment is seen around Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden residence, which had been reduced to a haunted house after Sasikala Natarajan's imprisonment. Boards deeming the building a 'public memorial' are already being shifted near Veda Nilayam.
