Venkaiah Naidu to sworn in as Vice-President tomorrow at 10 am

The Vice-President elect Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu will be sown in as the next Vice President of India on August 11 at Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan at 10 am.

Naidu will be the 13th Vice President of India. Naidu has served as the Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Urban Development and Information and Broadcasting in the NDA Cabinet.

Out of 760 valid votes, Venkaiah Naidu got 516 votes and UPA's candidate Gopalkrishna Gandhi got 244 votes. The polling percentage was high. The total polling percentage recorded was 98.21. 771 out of 785 votes were polled.

Earlier on Wednesday, outgoing Vice President Hamid Ansari, who has held the post for two consecutive terms, cautioned the nation in his final address on August 10. Ansari, in his speech, highlighted the insecurity amongst segments of the society, especially minority communities including Muslims, Dalits and Christians. He was giving his final address as the Vice President at the 25th annual convocation of the National Law School of India University in Bengaluru.
