Aadhaar mandatory for death certificates, will be effective from October 1

Aadhaar will now be mandatory for registration of deaths, the government has decided. This would come into effect from October 1 2017. Aadhaar would be required to establish the identity of the deceased for the purpose of death registration, the government said.

It may be recalled that Haryana's HEALTH minister Anil Vij had said that to ensure prompt availability of birth and death certificates in the state, Aadhaar card is being linked to them.This would ensure that people do not have to face any problem while getting birth and death certificates, he said.
