Sunanda Pushkar case: I didn't file plea for sake of publicity, says Swamy

Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday told the Delhi High Court that he did not file a PIL in Sunanda Pushkar death case to seek any publicity. Swamy's submission comes in response to Sunanda Pushkar's son Shiv Menon's plea which said, Swamy's public interest litigation is nothing but 'publicity interest litigation'.

''I don't need any publicity, I am a politician and an MP so I don't need publicity, '' said Swamy, who is a BJP MP in Rajya Sabha. Earlier, Sunanda Pushkar's son Shiv Menon had approached the Delhi High Court on July 22 seeking intervention in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy.

Menon said Swamy filed the plea for sake of publicity and not to seek justice for Sunanda. He further asked as to what the locus standi of Swamy was to file such a petition. Menon also sought expediting of investigation. Sunanda, wife of Congress lawmaker Shashi Tharoor was found dead in Room No. 345 of Hotel Leela Palace in 2014.
