Shiksha mitra strike: 79 govt. schools remain closed in Uttar Pradesh

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Around 79 government primary schools in the district today remained closed due to strike by Shiksha mitra (ad-hoc teachers) in protest against the quashing of their appointment as full-time teachers by the Akhilesh Yadav regime.

According to district Basic Shiksha Adhikari, Chander Kesh Yadav, directions have been issued to the officials to arrange teachers from others schools, which are closed due to the strike. Some 79 schools remained closed these ad-hoc teachers were appointed, he added.

A number of schools in areas like Khatoli, Shahpur, Budhana, Purkazi, Charthawal, Jansath and Baghra blocks in the district in the district also remained closed.

'Shiksha mitra' (ad-hoc teachers) have launched an agitation across the state on Thursday after the Supreme Court had upheld the Allahabad High Court verdict of September 2015 which had quashed their appointment as full-time teachers by the Akhilesh Yadav regime.
