KOLKATA: A team of Crime Investigation Department (CID) visited the residence of BJP Rajya Sabha MP Roopa Ganguly here on Saturday to interrogate her on alleged links with the high-profile Jalpaiguri child trafficking case.

A 3-member team including two women visited the residence of the BJP MP at Golf Green here at around 11.15 am on Saturday. The interrogation of Ganguly is underway.

The name of Ganguly and BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya cropped up in the case when prime accused Chandana Chakraborty had alleged that former BJP Mahila Morcha leader Juhee Choudhury influenced the two top BJP leaders to lobby the Central Adoption Research Authority (CARA) authorities to release more central funds for Chandana's shelter homes.

Ganguly, Vijayvargiya and two other BJP leaders were sent notices by CID on July 20 informing them of the interrogation dates and process.

Ganguly was also removed from the post of West Bengal BJP Mahila Morcha President a few days ago. Fellow actor-turned-politician Locket Chatterjee took over the post.
