The Monsoon session of Parliament enters its fourth day on Thursday and key bills related to the Ministry of Human Resource Development will be tabled before the House for consideration.

Meanwhile, Thursday will also see the election of the new President of India with the counting of votes cast on Monday. The ruling NDA candidate Ram Nath Kovind has a clear edge over the Opposition nominee Meira Kumar.

In the Lok Sabha, Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar will move that the bill to further amend the Indian Institutes of Information Technology Act, 2014, be taken into consideration and passed. The minister will also propose the bill to amend the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. The bill related to the right of compulsory education was proposed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, however , it could not be passed due to repeated interruptions.

The BJP-led central government has planned some 34 odd bills to be tabled during the Monsoon Session, which will have roughly 20 sessions. However, with Tuesday being a near washout and Wednesday's stormy session, the government would be hard-pressed to push its agenda. According to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar, apart from 16 new bills, 21 bills are pending in Lok Sabha while 42 bills are pending in Rajya Sabha, many of which would be considered for passing during the session.
