Chemists from across the country are set to go on a nationwide one day strike on May 30 to protest stringent regulations on the sale of medicines in the country and to draw attention to the squeeze on their margins.

The strike was called by All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), which represents nearly nine lakh registered chemists across the nation. The group resorted to protest after government allegedly failed to pay heed to their concerns. According to AIOCD officials, the group raised presented their concerns before government officials on numerous occasions with no avail.
