Ram Charan says, Won’t endorse box-office numbers on my film posters

Actor Ram Charan, who is basking in the phenomenal success of his latest release Rangasthalam, on Thursday said he won’t publicly endorse the box-office numbers of his films going forward as it sets a bad precedent among his fans who use it to judge the success of films of other actors.

Speaking on the sidelines of being associated as the brand ambassador of Happi Mobiles, a multi-brand mobile retail chain, Ram opened up on the success of Rangasthalam and why the film or any other movie shouldn’t be judged by its box-office numbers. When a member of the audience asked if it’s fine to gauge a film’s success by its box-office numbers, he said he doesn’t see it as a healthy trend. “I’m not particularly happy with the way audiences’ are reacting to box-office numbers. It’s not in our hands how they feel when we share these numbers. But I feel when producers share numbers; it’s being interpreted wrongly by fans. In future, I request all my producers to never again put box-office numbers on posters.”

Charan went on to add that that the real success of the film should be judged by how many people have watched it. “The box-office numbers should be compared with the footfalls. More than the numbers, the real happiness for any actor, in my opinion, is hearing ten people talk about how genuinely good is a particular film. We all as actors are good friends and we want our fans to also feel the same way and not make way for controversies by unnecessarily talking about numbers. I will ensure that box-office numbers are not publicly shared even in my production.” Talking more on the success of Sukumar-directed Rangasthalam, Ram said that it has made him more responsible as an actor. “It has made me more responsible to make better films.” With over Rs 200 crore gross worldwide, Rangasthalam has emerged as the third biggest grosser of Telugu filmdom after the Baahubali franchise.
