Deconstructing Ranbir Kapoor is really scrumptious. It’s like devouring a strawberry-cheesecake at one go. Unlike his contemporaries, that are animated and maintain eye-contact, he is extremely guarded. He likes being a mystery, he likes to vanish at parties and forfeits when put on the spot. He just wants to speak via his movies.

His nonchalance is made up in the vigor of his portrayals. Since he is so abjured, the curiosity around him heightens more. We wonder, why doesn’t he do more movies? We want to see more of his talent being delved into. Ten years, ten filmfare awards and being very consistent in nominations at the awards seasons, we want more and more of his movies to win.

Here are two reasons Ranbir doesn’t do more movies:
1. He isn’t an outsider. His family has made a name for themselves. Thus he is perceived as a person with an aptitude towards the movies. He will be given chances. Just as Abhishek Bachchan was given, 11 times. He also is tall and handsome, thus has the quintessential hero looks. What he has is a different kind of pressure, of carrying on the legacy. But he doesn’t feel it, because his generation of actors believe in experimenting with good scripts. That is because the people want to watch different genres of films, good scripts with socially-inclined topics and great filmmaking. So he’d rather do a Barfee or a Rockstar so that he can have a diverse resume than just be the chocolatey-boy, romantic just like his father was.

2. He doesn’t need the money, he knows good movies will come occasionally and can do only good movies and maintain the luxurious life he lives (vacations, bling, party, house etc.). He also, unlike his father’s generation that worked on three movies at a time, can focus on one film and give the most optimal portrayal. With the number of movie halls, screens and Bollywood being international, you can earn more with just one movie than earning with more than three movies from his father’s generation.
