Sonam Kapoor’s Cannes red carpet look is all about Indian grace

Sonam Kapoor made a much anticipated return to the Cannes Film Festival, one week after her wedding in Mumbai. Sonam flew down to the 71st edition of the world’s biggest film festival as an ambassador for the cosmetics brand, L’Oreal. Sonam walked the red carpet for the premiere of Spike Lee’s new film, BlacKkKlansman, dressed in a Ralph and Russo lehenga.

The fashion icon turned heads in a pearly embellished gown that she paired with a crop top. Noticeable on her finger was her new wedding ring. Sonam posted a set of three pictures on her Instagram account, listing the designers behind her look, co-styled by her sister, Rhea. Her earrings were courtesy Chopard and ‘parandi’ (an Indian hair accessory) courtesy Amrapali Jewels. She also shared a set of pictures of her second look, a flowy summer gown by Delpozo, paired with a Jimmy Choo handbag. Ahead of her red carpet appearance, L’Oreal also shared pictures from behind-the-scenes.

On Monday, the actor shared her first look from Cannes, in which she wore a polka dotted maxi dress. Before Sonam, Indian actors such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Mallika Sherawat and Kangana Ranaut had walked on the red carpet, representing various brands. Meanwhile, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and the team of Manto were the sole flagbearers for Indian cinema at the festival. Manto, based on the life of renowned Urdu writer, Saadat Hasan Manto, premiered to positive reception. Sonam will return to India just in time for the publicity tour for her new film, Veere Di Wedding, in which she stars opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan and Swara Bhasker. The film is slated for a June 1 release.
