425 Report

Rashmika Mandanna, who shot to fame after her Kannada film Kirik Party turned out to be a success, is on a roll in Telugu cinema as she is on a film signing spree. Last seen on screen in Naga Shaurya’s Chalo, she has two projects with actor Vijay Deverakonda in her kitty. While the first one is with director Parasuram and it’s been on the floors for quite some time, the second project, Dear Comrade, will be directed by debutant Bharat Kamma.

Some time back, reports emerged that she plays a sportswoman in Dear Comrade. According to the latest reports, she plays a cricketer in the film and she’s believed to currently taking lessons to play her part when the project starts rolling from June. Meanwhile, Rashmika will wrap up her current commitments in Kannada. She’s currently shooting for Kannada action-drama Yajamana with actor Darshan. Not so long ago, director Bharat quashed rumours about Dear Comrade being a remake of Malayalam film Comrade in America (CIA), which featured Dulquer Salmaan in the lead.

He also clarified that Deverakonda doesn’t play a student leader in the film. To be bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers, the rest of the cast and crew will be finalized soon. Before Dear Comrade goes on floors, Deverakonda will look to wrap up most of his portion in upcoming Telugu-Tamil bilingual Nota, a political drama, being directed by Anand Shankar. The film marks Deverakonda’s foray into Tamil filmdom and he has confirmed that he will dub his lines in Tamil in his own voice. Mehreen Pirzada has been signed as the leading lady.
