Deepika Padukone arrived at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday, shortly after walking the ramp at the 2018 Met Gala, hoping for a kinder reception for her fashion choices after her Met Gala experience. The actor shared a picture of herself at the airport, positively beaming at the chance to visit Cannes again.

Deepika has been a fixture at the prestigious film festival, where she is invited as a guest of the cosmetics brand, L’Oreal. She will represent the Indian contingent at the 71st edition of the fest along with actors Sonam Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Huma Qureshi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Divya Dutta and Kangana Ranaut. In the picture she shared on Instagram, the Padmaavat star can be seen on an airport walkway, all smiles, wearing a loose check shirt, black boots and black leggings. She captioned the picture simply, “Touchdown Cannes.” Deepika was in Cannes briefly before she left for the US for her Met Gala appearance. The actor had shared a basket of goodies that had welcomed her to the French town.

Kangana, however, arrived in Cannes before her. Speaking to CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi at the India pavilion, the Manikarnika star said that the situation for Indian cinema seems to be improving, with several regional movies being screened at Cannes. “We have four regional films that are being screened here. It is very endearing that our regional films - Bengali, Malayalam, Punjabi, Assamese - are getting such a platform and will be showcased here. Someone made a film for the first time in Lakshwadeep and it is getting such a grand platform as Cannes! The fact that filmmakers are now getting such wide platforms is great.” Stay tuned for more pictures of Indian stars at Cannes.
