BMC notice to Amitabh Bachchan over illegal construction

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan and seven others, including director Rajkumar Hirani, were issued notices by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) over illegal construction at their houses. The issue came to light on Wednesday following information recieved by Right to Information (RTI) activist Anil Galgali.

Galgali had sought information from P South Ward Office of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) about the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices (MRTP) notice that was issued against Bachchan and others, said reports.

Reports quoted Galgali as saying that Bachchan and others have made changes in their main maps for making illegal construction in Goregaon. The notices were issued on December 7, 2016, Rajkumar Hirani, Oberoi Realty, Pankaj Balaji, Sanjay Vyas, Haresh Khandelwal and Haresh Jagtani besides Amitabh Bachchan. Galgali also wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta, demanding immediate action and carry out demolition of illegal extension.
