Deepika Padukone joins Big B, Priyanka, Salman to become an Academy member

Deepika Padukone, who is on a career-high, courtesy her Bollywood and Hollywood projects, just added another feather to her hat. The actress has now been inducted as one of the newest members of the Academy of Motion Picture of Arts & Sciences (AMPAS), Class of 2017.

Following two years of sharp criticism and back-to-back ceremonies with an all-white slate of acting nominees, AMPAS last month invited a record 774 new members from 57 countries around the world to join the organisation’s ranks.
