The five-year-old school kid, who had been kidnapped from east Delhi in January by two unidentified armed bikers, has now been rescued by the police. Police was able to save the nursery class student after a shootout in Sahibabad, which is 40 kms away from Delhi.

According to the report, the shootout went on for nearly half an hour. The kidnappers have been arrested. Delhi Police's crime branch officials late last night raided a flat, where the child was kept since the last 10 days reportedly, on the fifth floor of an apartment complex in Shalimar City, Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. On 25 January, the kid was brazenly abducted from his school bus by unidentified bike-borne persons who also shot at the driver when he tried to stop them.

The incident had taken place at a time when there was an unprecedented security cover in place in the national capital in view of the India-ASEAN commemorative summit and the Republic Day celebrations. The incident took place around 8 am in east Delhi when the boy was in the school bus along with 20 other students, including his elder sibling. The bike-borne accused overtook the bus and then barged inside brandishing weapons. When the bus driver protested they fired at him. They then took the child with them and sped off on their motorcycle.
