NIA arrests Syed Salahuddin’s son in Kashmir terror funding case

The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday arrested Syed Salahuddin's son Syed Shahid Yusuf in connection with terror funding case.It is learnt that Syed Shahid Yusuf works in the horticulture department of Jammu and Kashmir state government.

The detention comes a day after the Centre announced the appointment of a special representative to carry forward the dialogue in Jammu and Kashmir. The investigations revealed that one of the accused Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, based in Syria, allegedly transferred money to Yusuf on the directions of Salahuddin.

Earlier on Monday, Yusuf was summoned by NIA in a case registered against Hizbul Mujahideen in Delhi in the year 2011. Salahuddin, a former Jama'at-e-Islami J&K member, is founder of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. He crossed the Line of Control (LoC) at the onset of militancy in Kashmir and came back to fight Indian forces. Currently, he operates from Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
