Over 74 injured, seven coaches of Kaifiyat Express derail in UP

Lucknow : Over 74 people were injured after eight coaches of the Kaifiyat Express derailed and one overturned near Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh during the early hours of Wednesday. No deaths have been reported as of now.

The train met with an accident after a loader carrying sand overturned on road parallel to the track in Achhalda area of Auraiya district around 2.45 am. Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu tweeted about the accident saying, "A dumper hit the locomotive of the Kaifiyat Express, resulting in derailment of coaches."

"Some passengers have received Injuries and have been shifted to nearby hospitals.I am personally monitoring situation, rescue operations. Have directed senior officers to reach the site immediately," he tweeted.
