UP train derailment: What we know so far

Kalinga-Utkal Express on Saturday went off the tracks in Khatauli in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Here are the latest developments:

Fourteen coaches of the train went off the tracks at around 6pm in Khautali in Uttar Pradesh. One coach climbed atop another in the accident. The train was headed from Puri in Odisha to Haridwar in Uttarakhand. "14 coaches of the train have derailed, at this stage nothing can be said about the cause of accident," Anil Kumar Saxena, Additional Director General (PR) of Indian Railways said.

"Ten people have been killed and 30-40 are critically injured after Uttar Pradesh train derailed near Khatauli," Anand Kumar, ADG Law and Order, said.

He also said 30 ambulances have already reached the spot.
