One dead, six injured in Theog building collapse

Himachal:One person died and six were injured when a building collapsed at Theog 30 kilometer from the state capital of Shimla on Friday. The two-storeyed building housed the office of state road transport corporation.

The deceased is yet to be identified . Two of the six injured have been referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla. Police, civil administration, home guards, fire brigade and locals have been carrying the rescue operation. Officers present on the spot said three people are feared to be trapped.

Additional district magistrate (ADM) Sunil Sharma said the district administration and other agencies were on the job. “Our priority is to scan the debris and rescue people. There are reports of one death so far,” he said.

Cause of the building collapse has not yet been ascertained but officers present on the spot said heavy rains could be a reason. .
