Bengaluru: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge of Karnataka K.C. Venugopal arrived here on Tuesday to resolve differences among the Congress leaders in some districts.

Venugopal’s meetings with district leaders assumes significance in the wake of A.H. Vishwanath, former MP, quitting the party.

On the first day of the visit, Venugopal held a meeting with leaders of Ballari, Vijayapura, Hassan and Chickballapur districts and told them to maintain discipline in the party. Today (Wednesday), Venugopal will chair meetings with 16 morchas of the party.

Meetings with members of the District Congress Committees are being organised after four AICC secretaries submitted their reports on each district under their zones after travelling through the districts. Congress sources said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had asked Mr. Venugopal to direct Ministers/senior leaders to attend the meetings to ensure that differences were resolved amicably.

Venugopal will attend the party’s convention at Kudalasangama in Bagalkot on Wednesday where senior leader S.R. Patil will be sworn in as the KPCC working president of north Karnataka.
