Bengaluru: State Congress President G Parameshwara placed his views in front of AICC State In-charge K C Venugopal where he is said to have clearly indicated that there is lot of dejection among Dalits for the party not considering their community leader for chief minister's post.

Meanwhile, after having steered the state Congress for 6 years, he is said to have clearly agreed to lead the party in the next Assembly elections of 2018.

"I have succeeded in maintaining cordial relationship between the party and the government. Even the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament Mallikarjun Kharge has favoured me.Considering all these factors, I have decided to take up the mantle of leading the party during the next Assembly elections", Parameshwar is said to have conveyed in his meeting with K C Venugopal.

Though ready to adhere by the high command's decision being a loyal party worker, it will be very difficult to assuage the feeling of Dalit community ", Parameshwar is understood to have conveyed to the central team on a visit to the state. It is not a plea, nor a demand but an opinion, Parameshwara clarified.

The five-member Congress team led by Kerala MP K C Venugopal held talks with Congress legislators, former legislators and even those who lost their seats in 2013 Assembly elections.

Some ministers, MLAs and other leaders have lodged complaints against the chief minister as well as the Congress party state chief, it is gathered.

This group is more concerned on caste combinations and keen on having a new chief from a prominent community at the helm in the state, than providing suggestions to improve party's chances in the next Assembly elections", it is learnt.
