State govt. announces Namma Metro Phase 2 to be completed by 2020

Bengaluru: The state government has announced that Phase 2 of the Namma Metro will be completed within the next two years and three months.

According to the officials in the State Urban Development Department, BMRCL has already awarded the construction contract for all the routes of the phase 2 including Whitefield and Electronic City metro Lines. The contractors have to finish construction in 27 months from the date of being awarded the contract.

According to the officials, phase 2 Metro is on track for completion by 2020. The entire phase 1 is scheduled to open this month once the Railway Safety Certification is done.

According to the officials, HSR Layout to Bommasandra track construction work contract has been given to ITD CEMINDIA JV. Byappanahalli to Whitefield (ITD CEMINDIA JV), Nagasandra to BIEC (Simplex), Yelechanahalli to NICE Junction - NCC and Nayandanahalli to Kengeri (ILFS and Soma).

Presently work has begun on the Nayandahalli to Kengeri metro libe only and rest of the contractors are yet to start the work.
