BDA allots Rs 3.35 crore for weeding of Bengaluru Bellandhur lake

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) has commenced the weeding of Bellandur Lake in Bengaluru east suburb as per the National Green Tribunal (NGT) directive.

"We have commenced weeding of Bellandur Lake today. It will take us four to five months to complete with work since we have to cover entire lake that spreads over 900 acres,'' P N Nayak, Engineer Member, BDA told reporters here.

The BDA, the custodian of Bellandur Lake, has assigned a private contractor for weeding of Bellandur Lake on Saturday. The work has commenced on Monday afternoon. "We have assigned a private contractor to clean the lake at an estimated cost of Rs 3.35 crore,'' Nayak said
