State govt. makes it mandatory for CBSE, ICSE schools to procure NoC

Bengaluru: In the year 2012, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had issued a notification stating that No Objection Certificate (NoC) from the state government is not mandatory to set up a CBSE school in any state of the country.

This decision was taken following the complaints from the school managements that rampant corruption is reported in issuing NoCs by state government agencies. But fast forward 2017, Karnataka government has decided to make NoC from the state government must for both CBSE and ICSE schools.

According to the decision taken by the state government all the CBSE schools in the state must apply for the NoC before May 31. "Those schools which fail to get NoC will be considered as state syllabus schools," said an officer.
