Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has put off Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bengaluru visit to February 4.

Modi’s visit was scheduled to be held on January 28 to address a rally to mark the conclusion of the party’s Parivarthana Yatra. The BJP State unit is banking on his rally to build tempo for its Assembly election campaign. The party’s Central unit is learnt to have advised the State unit to put off the event as Modi will have to attend a few meetings on January 28 in connection with the Union Budget, which is to be presented on February 1.

According to sources, the BJP leadership opines that it would be better for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the rally after the presentation of the budget as he can refer to the sops, if any, in it. “He may be in a better position to proudly refer to his achievements if he addresses the rally after the presentation of the Union Budget,” a party leader said.February 4 has been fixed as the new date as the State unit is keen to hold the important event in Bengaluru only on a Sunday so that a large number of people could attend, he added.
