Members of Raitha Sena-Karnataka, a farmers' struggle committee which has been heralding the struggle for Mahadayi water, Kalasa Bandoori Nala Project, has urged Chief Election Commissioner of Karnataka, to de-recognise three major political parties - Congress, BJP and Janata Dal (Secular), for their failure to resolve Mahadayi water dispute, despite including it in their manifesto for years.

The members led by Raitha Sena Karnataka President Veeresh Sobaradmath, state vice-president Shankrappa Ambali and others, while submitting a memorandum to the CEC- Karnataka through the district administration on Friday said the Mahadayi water issue has been a prominent demand of the region, the implementation of which will cater to the needs of five districts.

Despite the parties including the Mahadayi, Kalasa Bandoori water issue in their manifesto for years now, they have neglected to strive for the same, thus dashing hopes of people. Hence the Election Commission should de-recognise these three parties for having neglected people’s aspirations, they added.A memorandum in this regard was sent to the Chief Election Commisioner Bengaluru on the occasion.
