KSRTC bags Business World Smart Cities Award 2017

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation’s (KSRTC’s) Vehicle Tracking and Monitoring - Passenger Information System awarded with prestigious Business World Smart Cities Award-2017 under the category of Accessibility & Mobility.

The KSRTC is the first transport undertaking in the country which has implemented Vehicle Tracking and Monitoring and Passenger Information System in 2000 intercity express buses. The System provides Vehicle Tracking System, Real Time information System and MIS reports to improve quality & convenience of public transport system by ensuring the delivery of safe, fair, reliable and environment-friendly transport system.

The award was presented to Minister for Transport H.M. Revanna during the award ceremony held at New Delhi by Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister for Urban Development and K.T. Rama Rao, Minister for IT and Municipal Administration, Telangana.Transport Minister Revanna informed that he would dedicate this prestigious award to the commuters and dedicated employees. He provided brief introduction to the following commuter friendly initiatives of the Karnataka Government being implemented in the field of Public Transport.

The minister requested the Central Government to strengthen the state to run transport undertakings by providing financial and infrastructure support to enhance mobility and accessibility to the people with efficient and economical bus services.The award is instituted by Business World, an Indian business magazine which provides a platform that endeavours to engage smart cities thought leaders and innovators to bring forth smart and sustainable ideas that can link the progressive cities to solutions that are best suited for them.
