Supreme Court adjourns hearing on Kambala

A three judge bench of the Apex court has put off by six weeks the hearing on a petition filed by People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) seeking a stay on conduct of Kambala while questioning the ordinance passed by the state government to enable the conduct of traditional sport in the region.

The bench comprising of judges Deepak Mishra, Chandra Borde, Kanvilkar passed an order to the effect.The SC had earlier on November 24 refused to grant stay as was sought by PETA and adjourned the hearing for six weeks time.
