Reduce in usage of vehicles leads to reduce in pollution, says Balakrishna

Bengaluru: Deputy Transport Commissioner S Balakrishna has appealed the people of Bengaluru to reduce using vehicles for commuting to prevent pollution in the city.

Balakrishna was speaking at a function organised to distribute prizes for the winners of drawing competition. It was organised by the Department of Transport at BEL High School. The theme of the competition was: Pollution due to vehicles.

“Vehicles also contribute to pollution in the city. I want the people to reduce usage of vehicles to ensure clean air in the city. Pollution not only affects not only human beings but also species,’’ Balakrishna said.

He advised the vehicles owners to keep their vehicles in good condition by cleaning air filters, not driving vehicles at high speed and carry overload on the vehicles. “We can save fuel and reduce pollution by switching off vehicles at traffic signals. I want all the people to participate in Swachch Bharat programme,’’ he said.

Senior Motor Vehicle Inspector H Rajanna, Assistant Regional Officer S Manjunath, Senior Motor Vehicle Inspector Rajendra S Barigidadh, BEL High School Deputy Principal B.S. Srikantachar and others attended the function.Fifteen students were presented with prizes.
