Bengaluru: Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala has directed the state government to form separate panels and send names for the vacant Vice-Chancellor posts at University of Mysore and Bangalore University (South-Nagarabhavai).

In a letter to the principal, secretary, higher education department, the governor informed that the candidates shortlisted by the state government for both the universities are not acceptable to him.

The state government had recommended S A Patil to the Bangalore University and C P Siddashrama to the UoM. But with the governor rejecting the names, the state government needs to direct the VC search committees of both the universities to recommend new names.

UoM VC post is lying vacant since January 10, 2017 and Bangalore University VC post has been vacant since February 6, 2017. Difference of opinion between the state government and governor has led to the delay in the appointment of new VCs.
