Bengaluru: A bomb threat received on the Namma 100 hotline of the Bengaluru City Police turned out to be a hoax on Monday. After receiving the phone call, the bomb squad rushed to the Vidhana Soudha as well as the Nehru Planetarium on Monday afternoon.

According to the police, the call came around 12.50 p.m. from a man who claimed to have information about bombs being placed in the Vidhana Soudha and the planetarium premises, which would be detonated before September 25.

Almost immediately, the dog squad and security personnel went to both premises and started checking. “Nothing suspicious was found during the search. In any case, we regularly check the Vidhana Soudha,” a senior police officer said.

The caller reportedly informed the helpline staff that he would send a person named Nagaraju to defuse the bomb before disconnecting. In the evening, a special team was formed to trace the caller, police said.
