T B Jayachandra says Physiotherapy council likely to be reality soon

Bengaluru: State Law Minister T B Jayachandra has assured of setting up of Physiotherapy Council on the lines of Nursing Council, Medical Council etc.

He was speaking after inaugurating 7th anniversary of the State Physiotherapy Network Association. "Recently when I got back pain, physiotherapy helped me to get relief. Physiotherapy has evolved as a separate and an effective branch of the medicine. So there is the need of a separate council," he said.

Network association state president Dr. Aarathi Prasad informed that there is need for research activities. Several pains can be controlled without medicines and surgery in physiotherapy, but research is what is needed now, " she said urging the state government to consider appointing physiotherapists in government hospitals to bring down the pressure on clinical staff.
