H D Kumaraswamy appears before SIT in Jantakal mining case

Bengaluru: Former chief minister and JD(S) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy who faces allegations of misusing the chief ministerial post to favour Janthakal Enterprises was subjected to a three-hour questioning at the SIT Hebbal office on Monday.

While granting of anticipatory bail to Kumaraswamy in the case, the state high court had directed the minister to appear before Lokayukta SIT every alternate Monday for the next six months or till filing of the final report.

The JD(S) state leader Kumaraswamy has been accused of allegedly providing permit to Jantakal Enterprises for illegal mining, besides permitting it to lift an old stock of 1 lakh tonnes of iron ore. Kumaraswamy who has claimed no misdoing has called the case a political conspiracy.
