Bengaluru: The state High Court (HC) has granted anticipatory bail to former chief minister and state Janata Dal (Secular) President H D Kumaraswamy in connection with the issuance of permit in Jantakal mining case.

The court has asked HDK to furnish a security bond of Rs 5 Lakh and appear before the Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing into the case, once every 15 days. It also directed HDK not to make any attempt to destroy evidence related to the case during the bail period.

SIT is probing into the irregularities committed in the issuance of permit to Jantakal mining company by HDK, when he was the chief minister of the state. HDK’s plea for anticipatory bail was rejected earlier by the lower court following which he had sought bail from HC.
