Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah today ensured that there would be no Indira canteen on public spaces. He took to twitter with Deccan Herald cutting to announce the instruction he had given to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) commissioner to not build Indira canteen on parks and playground.

"Have instructed @BBMPCOMM1 to not build #IndiraCanteen on parks & playgrounds. The poor also have a right over open spaces", tweeted @CMofKarnataka.

The BBMP seems to be relay on the loopholes in its November 2015 notification which notified 283 designated open spaces in the city are neither parks nor playgrounds. The notification was issued by the Urban Development Department under the Karnataka Parks, Playfields and Open Spaces (Preservation and Regulation) Act, 1985.

Siddaramaiah government's dream project Indira Canteen has been facing flakes from the public for building on public spaces. The project which aims to provide food in low prices is to be inaugurated on August 15.
