Bengaluru: Parappana Agrahara Central Prison authorities on Thursday refused to allow AIADMK Deputy General Secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran to meet his aunt and AIADMK leader V.K. Sasikala who is serving a four-year term in a disproportionate assets case.

Dinakaran, along with a few of his supporters, visited the prison seeking permission to meet Sasikala but he had to return without meeting her as the prison staff refused permission citing prison regulations.

Heated arguments ensued between Dhinakaran’s supporters and the prison staff when the latter refused to allow the meeting and did not budge despite repeated requests from the group. After waiting at the entrance for a few minutes, Mr. Dhinakaran left stating that he would return on Friday with due permission.

Speaking to media persons outside the prison gate, Dhinakaran refuted allegations that Sasikala had been given preferential treatment inside the prison and that prison staff had been paid money. He clarified that he had not made any request to shift Sasikala to another prison.
