CM Siddaramaiah : State bandh unlikely to affect services & precautions taken

Bengaluru : Life in state is unlikely to be disrupted on Monday, June 12 in view of the state-wide bandh called by some pro-Kannada outfits.

The bandh has been called seeking resolution of the Mahadayi water issue. State transport corporations, including KSRTC and BMTC, have said that they will continue as normal. They will take a decision after assessing the ground situation later during the day.

Shops and other business establishments are expected to operate as normal. The bandh has been called by the Vatal Nagaraj-led Kannada Okkoota and Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Sa Ra Govindu, demanding implementation of the Kalasa Banduri project and resolution of other water issues.

Very few organisations have come in support of the bandh. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that the ‘Karnataka bandh’ called by various organisations will not be successful.

Siddaramaiah said that the state government had taken adequate precautions to ensure that normal life is not disrupted due to the bandh.
