Bengaluru: In a big relief to lakhs of engineering seat aspirants of the state, COMEDK and state government have unanimously decided not to increase the engineering fee structure.

According to the consensual agreement signed between COMEDK and the state government, it has been decided to continue last year's fee structure and seat matrix. This means 40% seats available in the private engineering colleges of the state will be considered as government quota seats.

According to the sources in the state higher education department, engineering colleges were demanding 10% hike in the fee structure. "But due to the prevailing drought government was against any kind of increase in the fee structure. The state government is now able to convince the college managements in this regard," said an officer.

"All India quota seat will also not touched," he added. Meanwhile, state medical education department is yet to sign consensual agreement with COMEDK regarding MBBS/ BDS fee structure.
