Bengaluru: The results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017 that were originally supposed to be announced on Wednesday has been delayed by 15 days, it is learnt.

However, there is no official communication from the Central Board for Secondary Education, the agency to conduct NEET about the result date so far. Meanwhile, students aspiring for medical and dental seats have been forced to opt for other courses including Engineering and BSc due to the delay in the announcement of results.

As the Karnataka Examinations Authority and Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka have scheduled their counselling dates, students are forced to opt for engineering seats.

The students have however voiced that while they do not have an issue joining an engineering course, but the colleges they claim refuse to refund the fees paid by them when they opt for a medical or dental course later.

Several such incidents had been reported during NEET 2016 too when students after getting medical or dental seats, surrendered their engineering seats. But, colleges did not refund the fees in most cases, said a senior COMEDK official. As per the schedule, COMEDK and KEA will begin option entry of engineering courses from June 9 and June 14 respectively.
