Monsoon expected to hit state by June 4

Bengaluru: Coming as a huge relief to the state that has been reeling under drought for consecutive years, the South West monsoon is finally expected to hit the state by June 4.

With the Indian Meteorological Department predicting a normal rainfall this year the farmers can heave a sigh of relief. However it would take a few more days before the interior parts of the state receive rainfall.

Meanwhile, due to the formation of another depression in the Bay of Bengal, widespread heavy showers are expected in coastal Karnataka, Malnad and South Interior Karnataka region at he onset of the monsoon.

An IMD forecast says heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast for coastal and south interior Karnataka over the next few days. Coastal Karnataka is projected to get widespread showers in the next five days.

More showers is forecast for North Interior Karnataka. Rainfall in South Interior Karnataka will be fairly widespread till Thursday, before the region starts receiving widespread rainfall. Bengaluru and some other parts of Karnataka have already experienced unprecedented showers over the weekend.
