Bengaluru: Following complaints that birds are witnessing untimely death inside the Cubbon Park due to the pollution caused by the vehicles, state horticulture department has sent a proposal to the state government seeking permission to close three entry points to the park.

According to the proposal, department wants to close Hudson circle, Bal Bhavan and KR circle entry points to the Park to ensure that park roads are not misused by vehicle drivers.

It can be recalled that department has already banned two stroke vehicles, especially autos inside the park due to the high level of pollution they cause.According to the department officials, recently Cubbon Park witnessed untimely death of birds in huge number due to the air pollution.

"The BBMP had closed Nrupatunga road for repair works for more than 45 days. At that time most of the vehicles were diverted via Cubbon Park causing huge damage to the park. To ensure that this kind of situation is not repeat, we have submitted the proposal to close three vehicle entry points," explained an officer. But this proposal needs atleast six months time to get approval as multi agencies are involved in the city traffic management.
