Bengaluru: Kannada activist, former MLA Vatal Nagaraj called for another state-wide bundh and this time demanding full-fledged irrigation projects in drought affected districts of the state.

As per the announcement made by Vatal Nagaraj, all Kannada organisations will observe 12 hours bundh between 6 am and 6 pm on Monday, June 12. Various Kannada organisation including Kannada Film Chamber has extended support for this stir.

It can be recalled that Vatal Nagaraj and some organisations had called for a state wide bundh on April 28 on the day of Bahubali 2 movie released, demanding an apology from movie actor Sathyaraj. Later bundh was withdrawn following an apology from Sathyaraj.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday at Bangalore Press Club, Nagaraj alleged that none of the major irrigation projects of the state are being completed in the state, creating problems for the farmers.

"Two major projects i.e. Mekedaatu in Chamarajnagar district and Kalasa Banduri project in Belagavi have been hanging in limbo due to the legal tussle with neighboring states. So we have decided to call for state-wide bundh on June 12 to pressurise the central and state governments," he said. Sa Ra Govind, chairman, Karnataka Film Chamber who was present at the press conference also extended the support to the bundh call.
