Green Line launch: BMRCL wants Pranab Mukherjee to inaugurate the service

Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRLC) which is going war footing to complete the metro Green Line works between Nagasandra in West Bengaluru and Yelachenahalli of South Bengaluru, wants to invite President Pranab Mukherjee to the launch the line.

An invitation has been forwarded to Rashtrapati Bhavan through resident commissioner, Karnataka Bhavan, New Delhi in this regard.According to the BMRCL officials, with the launch of full fledged service on Green Line, metro phase 1 will be completed.

'Railway safety commissioner will start the inspection works of this route on Wednesday May 24. We are expecting necessary permission in a week. We want to dedicate the service to the general public at the earliest," explained an officer from the BMRCL.

Meanwhile, the BMRLC has already completed food and event management tender for metro green line inauguration. "We haven't fixed the date. But, tenders are finalised to ensure that it will not cause any further delay," he said.

According to the BMRCL sources, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) will start the inspection works on Wednesday afternoon. "There will not be any inspection between May 25 and 28. Inspection will resume on 28 and continue till May 31," sources informed.
