BENGALURU: Over 2,500 candidates registered with Bangalore University under distance education and correspondence mode have not yet received their study material even two months after the admissions were completed.

The university is thinking of conducting the exams for both undergraduate and post-graduate courses under distance education mode in September or October, but according to the officials from the distance education department, study material will be available only by the end of June or first week of July.

Candidates have approached the university repeatedly to enquire about the same. When students come in person, authorities have been providing soft copies of the study material. “I visited the university on Monday to get my study material. But they asked me for a pen drive. But I did not have one with me at the time,” said Sarvesh, a candidate from Kolar who registered for BA Kannada.

A candidate who registered for MA Kannada said, “While registering for the course they collected our mobile numbers and e-mail addresses. But so far we have not received a single communication from the university. They could have informed us about the study material, but instead we had to approach them first to know what was happening.”

Prof Shadaksharaiah, Director of Distance Education, said, “We are providing soft copies of study material. For some courses, the study material is being edited by subject experts as per the direction of a high-powered committee.”
