Woman shoots husband in car, chases him as he tries to escape in bus

Bengaluru: A woman pulled out a pistol and fired three rounds at her 52-year-old husband near Electronics City on Friday.

The police have identified the woman as Hamsa, 44, and the victim as Sairam, 52, her husband.

According to the police the couple had stopped their car at a signal near Singasandra junction. The victim, M.R. Sairam, was getting out of the car he had been driving when his wife Hamsa opened fire.

When Sairam tried to escape by jumping into a BMTC bus, Hamsa took the wheel of the SUV and chased down the bus and tried to attack him again. However, she was overpowered by the passengers and was handed over to the police.

According to doctors Sairam took three bullets in his abdomen and is battling for his life.

As per police reports, the couple were returning home in HSR Layout after having lunch at a restaurant in Attibele, when they got into an argument. Sairam, who is the CEO of a private company, allegedly punched Hamsa, who is suspected to have opened fire in retaliation.

Hamsa has been arrested for attempt to murder. The weapon she used, a 9 mm pistol, was a licensed one that the couple had acquired for security purposes.

She is a director in the private company owned by Sairam and where he is the CEO. The couple live in HSR Layout.
