Man thrashed by locals for assaulting minor :Bengaluru

BENGALURU: A 44-year-old lecturer received a thrashing like he never imagined after he was caught red-handed sexually assaulting a two-year-old girl at  his residence. The incident took place on Monday night, in Kothanur police station limits.

The accused, Mathew, a native of Kerala and a lecturer at a private college in Avalahalli, had to face being beaten black and blue by residents before he was handed over to the Kothanur police. According to police, Mathew was living alone in a rented house in Kothnur. On Monday late evening, he lured a two-year-old girl, daughter of a construction worker, with chocolate and took her to his house and allegedly sexually assaulted her. The incident came to light when the girl started crying following which the parents of the girl along with neighbours barged into Mathew’s house and caught him sexually assaulting the girl. Mathew who tried to flee was caught and thrashed mercilessly before he was handed over to the police. Based on the complaint filed by the parents, the Kothanur police have arrested Mathew under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and remanded him to judicial custody.
