According to a decision taken by the state Urban Development department, the Akrama-Sakrama scheme will not be applicable to houses built on forest, lake and Gomala (cow gazing) land. All the illegal houses upto 1,200 square feet built in the 18 kilo meter radius of major cities will be covered under this scheme.

According to the sources, this scheme is expected to benefit thousands of people who have build houses in illegal layouts come across major cities, especially in Bengaluru.

'Once this scheme is introduced, all B-khatha record owners can convert their land to A-khata by paying a prescribed fee. Those who have built houses in revenue land especially nomadic tribes like Hakki Pikki will also be greatly benefited by this scheme," said an officer.
